A multifaceted leader, distinguished academician and administrator Prof. P.B. Sharma is the founder Vice-Chancellor of Delhi Technological University (formerly Delhi College of Engineering). Prof. P.B. Sharma is a former Professor of IIT Delhi, Founder Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi Technology University, former President of Engineering Science Division of Indian Science Congress, former Chairman of Indian Society of Mechanical Engineers and Vice-Chairman of World Confederation of Productivity Sciences, India Section. A Doctorate from University of Birmingham, UK, Prof. Sharma during his professional career spanning 40 years has made distinguished contribution to the advancement of frontiers of knowledge in the areas of Aero Engineering Technology, Power Plant Engineering, New and Renewable Energy Resources and Knowledge and Innovation Management.
An eminent scholar with extraordinary vision, Prof. Sharma, has guided 14 Ph.Ds and has published around 130 research papers in reputed national and international journals/conferences. Prof. Sharma has provided industrial consultancy to the renowned organization including GTRE and Rolls Royce of UK. He is an extraordinary and most sought of speaker and has addressed various national and international professional gatherings across the world. In his dynamic leadership as Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technological University, he has been applying remarkable strategies and has brought significant rise in the growth of the university which is evident by rise in research and innovations in Delhi Technological University.
Prof. Sharma is a fellow of World Academy of Productivity Sciences, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow of Aeronautics Society of India and also a Fellow of ISTE. A crusader for synergy between science and engineering, Prof. Sharma’s vision is to create the “Power of Science” and “Might of Technology” in institutions of higher learning such as the technical university like DTU. During his long tenure at DCE, a good number of innovations have rolled out on the strength of inter-disciplinary engineering, generally drawn from the innovative genius of UG student community. Supported and supervised by the learned faculty these include India’s first Hybrid Car, Super Mileage Vehicle, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Robotic Submarine and Unmanned Aircraft System. All these participated in international competitions and have received high international acclaim. |
